About the Oxford University Equestrian Club (Why Join?)

Home Of The Oxford Blues

OUEC is home to Oxford University’s Varsity Showjumping/Dressage Team, which competes in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Equestrian Competitions throughout the year. The season culminates in the annual Varsity Match between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Oxford Equestrian Apparel (Stash)

OUEC produces an annual collection of Oxford Equestrian-branded riding apparel (including jumpers, breeches, hat covers, puffers, boot bags, and ballcaps).

Subsidized Lessons For All Abilities

OUEC members have access to exclusive, subsidized riding lessons at leading riding schools throughout Oxford. If you’re looking to get back into riding, improve your skills, learn to jump, or hack out in the countryside, OUEC offers affordable access to high quality riding.

Social Events, Tasters, and Banquets

Each term, OUEC puts on inclusive and welcoming social events. We have an annual tasters session where people can come and try riding at a nominal price. We have numerous subsidized drinks gatherings at pubs and clubs around Oxford and a termly banquet. We are also introducing a monthly hack followed by a trip to a country pub.

Explore England by Horseback

OUEC members organize regular hacks (outdoor rides) in the English countryside throughout the year. Members also organize fun rides (hacks with jumps), and visits to a series of cross country barns for training. If you’re keen to explore England by horseback (the best way to see this country) and pop into a country pub for a nibble and tipple, this is the club for you.

Intercollegiate Competition (Cuppers)

Every spring, OUEC organizes the annual intercollegiate Cuppers competition. Riders of all abilities compete in a super friendly riding exhibition (simple dressage and small, optional jumps). Cuppers is a fun way to meet other riders, represent your college, and showcase what you’ve learned over the year. Many colleges can allocate funds for Cuppers.
